Update Mar 4 – Caltrans Project Status

Update Mar 4 – Caltrans Project Status
, ,

It appears that the community has been successful in our campaign to mitigate the fire danger in the ROW. The linked document, which describes a large project, refers to “Highway 1,” but all Caltrans projects are mapped to the nearest Highway; the coordinates given are in the middle of the ROW, and the exemption refers to excess land. I am awaiting a map showing the sections of the ROW involved, but I am optimistic it is the entire ROW. All in all this effort took just over 1 year.

Excerpt:

Vegetation management activities on these parcels will involve goats to remove vegetation on the ground, tree removal (includes fallen trees, dead trees, and trees removed to thin areas), stump treatment (grind down and/or herbicide), limbing or delimbing (the process of removing branches from a standing or fallen tree trunk), and tree, brush, and debris removal (includes spreading woodchips and/or removal off-site and discarded).
